OKLAHOMA CITY -- The low-cost airline ExpressJet is taking off from the Will Rogers Airport – for good. The airline announced that it will cease operating as a branded commercial airline Sept. 2, blaming high fuel prices and other costs. The last flight out of Oklahoma City is scheduled for mid-August.
Express Jet began serving Oklahoma City in April 2007, offering mostly nonstop flights to cities on the west coast. Most other airlines send Oklahoma City passengers through a hub city before reaching their final destinations. The airline said anyone holding a ticket for a flight scheduled after Sept. 1, 2008, should contact ExpressJet Reservations at 888-958-XJET to request a refund. The airline has stopped selling tickets for travel beyond Sept. 2, 2008.
