How To Subscribe/Unsubscribe To Severe Weather Alerts

One of the ways people can protect themselves at home via technology on koco.com is through our severe weather alerts.

Visitors to koco.com can subscribe to these alerts and have them sent to their mobile (cellular) e-mail addresses. To be able to do this, you'll need to have Internet/e-mail service through your cellular provider.

Many cell phone users don't even know they have mobile e-mail service. If they do and they know it, many others don't know what their actual mobile e-mail address is. However, we've found an online resource with the mobile e-mail address formulas for the most common local and national providers.

To subscribe to severe weather alerts:
1. Open your browser, preferably Internet Explorer.
2. Go to http://www.koco.com/severeweathersignup/index.html
3. Type your mobile e-mail address in the 'Enter your e-mail' field. If you do not know what your mobile e-mail address is, visit this Web page, which features the common e-mail address formulas for providers both national and local.
4. Select a county from the 'Select your county' drop-down menu.
5. Check the checkbox next to the word "Yes," which is next to "Send alert to pager/phone?"
6. Click the "Next Step" button.
7. Make changes as necessary; however, if you typed in your mobile e-mail address correctly, it should show up automatically.
8. Click the "Click Here To Start Receiving E-mail" button.
9. Consult the manual for your mobile phone to find out how to change the tone your phone makes when an e-mail is sent to it. Be sure that the tone is loud enough to wake you when overnight severe weather is imminent, and turn the tone off when it is not.

To unsubscribe from severe weather alerts:
1. Open your browser, preferably Internet Explorer.
2. Go to http://www.koco.com/emailnewsletters/index.html
3. Enter your mobile e-mail address into the appropriate fields.
4. Uncheck the box associated with the alert you no longer want to receive.
5. Click the Submit button.

Note: The system might require you to complete other fields. However, if the process to unsubscribe becomes too cumbersome, you can e-mail us at oklnews@koco.com, and we'll unsubscribe you.

If you have questions about the subscription process, you can also e-mail us at oklnews@koco.com; however, we won't be able to answer questions specific to your phone model or mobile account.
