POSTED: 7:11 pm CDT August 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning continued to reshape their roster on Friday, acquiring defenseman Andrej Meszaros from Ottawa in exchange for defensemen Filip Kuba and Alexandre Picard along with a first- round draft pick in 2009.

"Andrej is a perfect fit within our plan to rebuild the Lightning into a contender," said club executive vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton.

Meszaros, who is a restricted free agent, posted nine goals and 36 points in 82 games for Ottawa last season.

Over a three-year NHL career, all with the Sens, the Czech native has recorded 26 goals, 110 points and 213 penalty minutes in 246 contests.

Kuba, 31, had six goals and 31 points over 75 games with Tampa in 2007-08. Over a nine-year career with the Panthers, Wild and Lightning, he has collected 55 goals and 207 points in 531 games.

Picard, who was a third-round pick of the Flyers in 2003, picked up six points in 20 games for Tampa last year. The Quebec native has scored six times with 28 points in 92 games over parts of three seasons with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.
