OKLAHOMA CITY -- Investigators said they have recovered the truck involved in a carjacking and shooting along Interstate 35 near Sulphur last week and think they know the name of the man responsible. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation issued an arrest warrant for Steven Scott Redmond, 46, of Texas. Redmond has a long history of violent crimes and is on parole for a murder conviction. Police said they consider him to be armed and dangerous.“We have reason to believe he is possibly still in the area or even possibly Texas, since he does have ties to Texas,” said OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown.
Redmond also has ties to Pennsylvania, Brown said.Investigators think Redmond shot and seriously wounded Keith Grimes Aug. 28 at the Scenic Turnout on Interstate 35 near mile marker 49. The gunman stole Grimes’ truck and then abandoned it two miles away, police said.Grimes has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home in Texas.Earlier this week, police found Redmond’s truck. They said they are looking it over carefully in hopes of finding evidence.Investigators think a woman who goes by the name of Mary Smith or Mary Harris may be with Redmond.
