Armed Bank Robbery Reported In MWCOfficers were called to a Chase bank at 301 N. Midwest Blvd. just after 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said a white man in his 20s robbed the bank and fired some shots on his way out. Nobody was injured, he said."It is very unusual that you have shots fired," Clabes said. "Luckily, no one was hurt."The man was last seen running toward the west, then the north. Officers used a police dog and a helicopter to look for him but were unable to track him down. The robber had shoulder-length hair and was wearing a gray (possibly green) shirt with blue jeans and a ball cap. He was seen heading northward from the bank. Witnesses said he had a white bandana that he pulled up over his face during the robbery. There is a hospital and a school in the area, officers noted. Subsequently, two schools were placed on lockdown -- Ridgecrest Elementary and Monroney Junior High. That lockdown was lifted after 4:30 p.m.
