Report: Marshall Waived By Oklahoma City

POSTED: 6:14 pm CDT August 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - The NBA's new Oklahoma City franchise reportedly waived 14-year veteran forward Donyell Marshall on Wednesday, according to The Oklahoman.

The team, which has yet to be further named upon officially moving from Seattle in July, acquired Marshall from Cleveland in an 11-player, three-team trade in February. That deal also saw Seattle send Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West to Cleveland.

The trade was viewed as a cost-cutting move at the time, which apparently came to fruition Wednesday. Marshall was in the final year of a contract that would have paid him $5.9 million.

Marshall, a former lottery pick out of Connecticut, averaged just 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in a limited role with Cleveland and Seattle last season, when he saw action in 26 contests.

For his career, the six-foot-nine Marshall has averaged 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds in 14 seasons with the Timberwolves, Warriors, Jazz, Bulls, Raptors, Cavaliers and Supersonics.
