The film star who plays the superhero "Hancock" is flying high at the top of Forbes' list of highest paid actors.

Forbes magazine said he earned $80 million last year, the most of any actor for the 12-month period from June of last year to this June.

Smith, the star of "Independence Day," "I Am Legend" and the "Men in Black" movies, has proven to be box-office gold. He is the first actor ever to have eight straight movies take in more than $100 million at the box office

"Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp isn't too far behind Smith. The "Sweeney Todd" Oscar nominee earned $72 million over the 12-month period.

"Shrek" co-stars Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers came in third and fourth on the list with $55 million for the year, and "The Departed" Oscar-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio has been working on movies that will be released in the future, earning him $45 million.

Bruce Willis, Ben Stiller, Nicolas Cage, Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler round out Forbes' top 10 list.
